My 5 year old is being investigated for sleep apnoea and was recently in hospital overnight for monitoring. Of course he slept like a baby and I'm sure they are going to say there's nothing wrong. Thats fine if there's not but I dont think the night he was there was that representative and he is always really tired. He's at school (P1) and goes to bed at 7 and usually wakes around 7 (often because his brothers are up). When he gets up he's still lying around looking knackered. After school he's always wanting carried and doesnt run around with his friends. He does do lots of activities at weekends but otherwise is just doing your average things. Just wondering what is normal for most 5 years old to see if a lot need this much sleep. Thanks.

ds1 has just turned 5 - he goes to bed at 7.30, sleeps till between 6.30 and 7.30 - he is still full of energy after school (we have a 25 minute walk home which he runs/scooters etc) and then plays with his brother till bedtime. How longs he been in school I found the 1st term ds was shattered afterwards adn occasionally he even fell asleep in his tea but this term he seems to be coping with it a lot better and is full of beans ALL the time!
