Infant Silent Reflux remedy

My DS (aged 14 weeks) was given Infant Galviscon for suspected infant silent reflux (ouch!). I'm to give it to him 4 times a day after a feed. It makes sense for me to give him his first dose after his breakfast feed (he is ebf, so I consider breakfast the first feed any time after 6 a.m.). My question is, does anyone know if I can make up the galviscon dose for the morning the night before I go to bed? I have no experience with this sort of heartburn/reflux medication and didn't think to ask the GP before we left her office today.

I agree - before the feed. I used to mix it with a bit (correct amount) of milk and pop it in with a medicine syringe to the side of her cheek to avoid more vomit. Genius.

Silent reflux is awful. Not so much advice on giving the gaviscon, our DS had silent reflux, gaviscon but didn't help him though. We took him to an osteopath which worked wonders, he was different baby after a few treatments. If the gaviscon doesn't work it may be worth a go.

Thanks ladies! I thought I should give him the Gaviscon before a feed but my hubby thought it was meant to sooth DS's throat and said give it to him afterwards but it took me 30 minutes to get it in DS last night because he was full. Will try to do it before feeds today and see how we get on. Also, such a relief to know I can make a day's worth of doses the night before rather than making them individually with a crying, hungry baby waiting. Though do I just leave it room temperature until ready to use?

When I went to the GP yesterday (who is lovely, btw, and didn't make me feel like an over-reacting first-time mum) she said to make an appointment for next week so she can check DS again and see how he got on with the gaviscon. I made the appointment before I left the office and am now in the process of making up his doses for today.

Gavi did not do a whole load for us either I am afraid, DD was prescribed ranitidine which worked just fine. I also found that the gavi made the milk too thick and she could not suck it out of the bottle, hence I gave it first.

Also (sorry) but Gavi made DD constipated.

Thanks ladies! So far the gaviscon seems to be doing the trick! I've even managed to get DS to lay down soon after a feed and go to sleep on his own. YAY!!!! Keeping my fingers crossed and fearful of getting too excited too early.....

He's 6.something kgs (1.5 lbs shy of 14 lbs), so already on the 2 sachets. One thing DS does well, even in pain, is eat! Still keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks, two. Am hoping that it's something he outgrows as he gets older. Still keeping my fingers crossed, but he's already like a new boy. The best bit is the sleeping -- he went from being a non-sleeper to napping during the day (not just in the car) and sleeping in his basket for 10+ hours at night (with two feeds during the night).
