Help please with my son's tinky

Hello, I was wondering if any of you could help me please. My baby boy is 7 months old. Today when i took his nappy off to change him i noticed his tinky (penis) was bleeding, i panicked but dh looked and said he had 2 small cuts on the end of it either side of each other near the bit he wee's from if that makes sense. Well i also noticed today he is not producing as many wet nappys as he normally does. Do you think i should be worried about this or am i worrying too much and its just a boy thing?? Thanks.

Is he distressed or looking like he is in pain?

put some sudocreme on it and leave his nappy off to let the air get to it.

he's probably holding his pee in as it stings like buggary when he pees

Lol glad you all think its funny about the tinky thing. He seems too small to be calling it his penis, but i suppose i should on a mumsnet thread .

He doesn't seem in any pain and seems ok in himself.

Not its definatly 2 little cuts. How the hell he would have got cuts on it i haven't a clue.

Could you, or someone else, have accidentally tugged his foreskin back a bit when wiping, pulling on it slightly and causing a small tear or split?

I don't know if that is what would happen -- I only know you aren't supposed to pull back the foreskin at all, and I assume this is because damage can result.

Poor wee fellow, must be sore but I am sure it will heal fast.

No i had not touched it, i had only just taken his nappy off, it was bleeding fresh blood.

I thought everyone knew what a tinky was, i feel silly now.

Has he perhaps scratched it? Babies sometimes grab their willies when they are being changed, and if he had a sharp bit (not unusual) then that might be the culprit. I agree with the sudocreme and airing it approach. If it doesn't start healing in a day or two or if you are worried about the peeing then take him down to your GP/HV for a check.

Sorry, I meant an earlier change -- like if his dad or grandma or someone other than you might've changed him.

Otherwise, does he have any dry skin/eczema issues anywhere? Skin can split sometimes? Long shot probably, just trying to think of reasons!

As far as i know none of those things have caused it. I was the only one up to that point that had changed his nappy all day. I will just put cream on it and keep a eye on his wet nappys. Just glad no one has put on here that they think its something more serious. Thanks for all the advice.

Could he have grabbed it? Babies have fingernils like razors. don't they? Could they be from thumb & forefinger?

Does the penis look swolen? Is he crabby? I'd be concerned if the bleeding was internal.
(I'm kinda assuming he has a foreskin. Has he?)
