DD is almost 4 - she had a stomach bug over the weekend but I think is over it now except for the fact that she isn't eating at all. Normally I'm pretty chilled about it - preschoolers go through phases etc etc but she hasn't eaten anything since Monday She complains her tummy hurts and I've tried saying that its probably hunger but no won't eat. I understand she's getting over her illness but the hunger is making her whiney and whingy, she's not sleeping and I'm exhausted. She will drink diluted fruit juice but not milk. Please help - what should I do?? She is terrified of going to the doctor and did manage to eat 1 bite of toast because I told her if she didn't I was taking her to see doctor. I'm feeling a crap mum cos I keep shouting at her but its only cos I'm worried..

it's hard isn't it
my eldest is almost 5 and he is exactly the same when ill, he just stops eating. last tiem he was poorly he didn't eat and one morning he just stood there and he was shaking and shaking while iw as dressing him cos he hadn't eaten anything for so long

my remedy for it is complan. some people hate it, it isn't the greatest thing in the world i am sure, but it works for us!
basically it's a food replacement drink thingy, very fortified, lots of calories and vits and minerals.
we get the strawberry one, make it up with milk and get him to drink as much as poss.
i have been known to use a medicine syringe to get tiny bits into him over the course of an hour or so when he hasn't eaten for ages

anyway, it seems to just give him back a bit of energy, which makes him feel a little bity better and then he feels more like eating proper food.
i tend to give him one a day for maybe 3 or 4 days to get his strength back and gradually build up on proper food as well (whatever he'll eat basically!)

Might try complan thanks. I think she's scared that if she eats then she'll be sick again... I even tried bribing her mcdonalds but it didn't work!
