Two month old with RSV

have been in hospital the last two days with my nine week old who has had a bad cough. They ran a few tests on her which came back positive for RSV. They have said we can go home if we really want to but they won't discharge us fully and will have to call/come back tomorrow to be checked.

She doesn't seem that ill at the moment - bad cough, more sleepy, not eating as much and very slightly wheezy but no temp or difficulty in breathing.

As she's so young I'd normally err on the side of caution and stay, but we are now sharing with an older baby who sounds really ill and I'm worried my LO will pick up something worse. I think they both have RSV but not sure and scared to ask the mother as she's not very friendly (and not in the uk so have a bit of a language problem). Not sure if there are different strains of RSV either.

Not sure whether to stay in hospital or not. Any advice welcome.

I would defo stay, your baby is very small and if the drs want you to stay then for me that would be enough said. Hope your lo is better soon x

I would stay too. Ask about cross contamination if you are worried and hopefully they can reassure you.

yes, stay. Ds had it at that age and what is even more disruptive is going back and forth from the hospital all the time (we were let home but had to keep coming back to have his oxygen sats checked etc. etc..). I left the hospital because I had another child at home and the logistics were impossible but if it had been my first and looking back on it, it would have been far easier and far better for ds to have stayed!
