How often do your babies get ill?

I only ask because my DS2 has been ill, by ill I mean a temp over 100 for a couple of days, around six times since he was born. He's now 9 months old.

Is this normal? Four of the occassions have been ear infections. He was breastfed until five months old but he has his first ear infection and cold well before then.

All my friends babies seem to get away with a couple of colds and they are amazed at often my LO gets ill. What am I doing wrong?

He eats really well. Plenty of fruit and veg and has a very healthy appetite.

Mine too, dd is 8 months and is constantly ill at the moment, 2nd bout of bronchilitis and an ear infec and cut 4 teeth in one week!! The joys! My ds was never like this, but then he never had an older brother or sis to get the bugs from! It is normal I have been told. xx

Really? That's good to know.

DS1 was bad but not as bad as this.

Anyone else around to reassure me this is normal? I feel that just as we're getting back to normal he gets ill again and I'm utterly exhausted.

Hi - my little girl seems to be sick all the time at the moment. My GP said that on average a baby / toddler will get 14 colds a year ..... that is more than one a month!!!! GP also went on to say that if they did not get sick they would not be building up their antibodies and therefore would not have a stong immune system. My little girl had a cold two weeks ago and now has a tummy bug for the past 4 days!
