This is the child who didn't cry in hosp when she broke her toe badly in the autumn so if she says it hurts she means it.

Anyway dh went in to wake her up and she was whimpering, hand under neck. Apparently she had been like that for an hour. he tried to get her onto her back and I heard screams and rushed in. poor dd, dh was saying just grit your teeth and I'll roll you. I shooed him out cos he was just winding her up.

I put on the light, no probs with that, no rash, no temp, just a very sore neck and dd could not move at all. She was stuck in such an awkward position and I really couldn't figure out what to do. Even considered phoning for an ambulance.

After 25 minutes of soothing music, warm wheat bag across her shoulders I managed to climb on to her bed behind her. Not easy with a torn rotator cuff onto a cabin bed. Then I managed to get her into a position where I could roll her into a sitting up position.

Got calpol and nurofen into her and an icepack on to her neck. She is to the point where she is sat on the sofa now. Can look one way and also down a bit but not the other way or up. So she has a gp appt at lunchtime. It is def easing so I may cancel her appt.

Poor kiddo!

Thanks for replying
she does have asthma. She does normally have one pillow but it looked like she had it scrunched up this morning. I reckon she did sleep on it funny (and she plays a lot of violin)

It is still sore this evening but more in that 'ow I've done something to my neck' way.

school reception gave her a very sceptical look when I took her in and wanted to carry her bag to her classroom for her. Didn't think that was fair when she's not a moaner and went in despite being sore still.
