spots on face - chickenpox or not?

my ds 19 months has a mild rash on his body and spots on his face. I thought it was chicken pox but my friend says he would have spots all over.
What could it be - I know it's difficult when you can't see but any opinions?

cp isn't a mild rash it is single definite spots which crust over. Could be almost anything from your decsripition ,ie post viral rash. Any other symptoms ?

Darn it - not gone to toddlers or sing and sign today as I thought it was the pox!

He's had a cold and has slept a bit more than usual, off his food. Had a chest infection over christmas.

Chicken pox is really distinctive compared to other rashes - red spots with definite blisters in the middle filled with fluid that then crust over. Usually start on the trunk then spread.
As LIZS said - could be many things but at his age and at this time of year, post viral rash is the most likely culprit

thanks for your replies - so it's not infectious then if that's what it is?

Doubt it - certainly if post viral then no but always worth checking it out (btw I did exactly that with dd before she then really had chicken pox as I wasn't sure either, but when it arrives, you know! Just out of 2 week quarantine!)
