chicken pox - can it start anywhere?

my daughter had a really high temp/cold during the week and now spots have appeared just on her face - is this chickenpox??
i have a 10 week old baby - how serious is it if she gets it? anything i can do?

Yes spots can start anywhere. They will turn angry-looking : red and scabby over next few days if it is CP.

With any child, but especially an infant, the thing to watch out for CP is very high fever. Just something to be vigilant for and seek medical advice immediately if it happens.

I've heard stories of babies getting it at 2 wks who were fine, though. DD had it at 15 weeks and woke up more at night, but otherwise seemed unaffected.

I highly recommend Piriton syrup for the older child, if they seem crotchety with the spots (usually after a day or 2 of them).
