aching legs in ds

my ds aged 6 next month, has for a while now moaned about his legs aching when walk up the stairs and at various times of the day.

i know he sometimes gets 'growing pains' at night but during the day it seems to be just a normal ache.

is the ache connected to growing pains or is it something else? possibly circulation problems?

thank you

Do his feet look flat?

My DS has flat feet and often used to wake at night with leg pain etc. He now has special insoles which have solved the problem; if we forget the insoles he really notices the difference and gets pain later on.

Don't know if this is relevant for you. But if you think this might be it then the first stop is the GP who will refer to hospital for assessment for insoles.

My DS ( 3 at the time) complained of aching legs

It turned out he was anaemic, apparently fairly common after a bad virus such as chicken pox. One of the symptoms is aching legs, along with tiredness etc.

My DS (just turned 4) has complained of aching legs as long as I can remember. He still regularly asks to be carried.

I have always put it down to growing pains (I suffered myself) but I'm just about thinking mayby I should chat to the doctor.

Please update and let us know how you get on. I'd be curious to know what the doctor suggests.

Good luck.

just to let you know doc said that we just have to keep an eye on him and if it becomes really painful we have to take him back for a blood test.

although DS really couldnt walk up the stairs after doctors this evening.......until i reminded him he would need to have a blood test then. hehe he ran up the rest of the way.
