DD's hair falling out

I stroked my 4yr old DD's head today and a clump of hair came out. She's always had very fine hair and if it's scraped back in a ponytail her scalp shows through.

She's been unhappy since the start of the year - she doesn't like nursery and her great-grandmother died a couple of weeks ago. Is the hair loss stress related?

Should I be worried?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It could be a number of things, alopecia, stress, also hair falls out with thryroid problems.

Get it checked out.

It can be stress, or can indicate deficiency in something (might be iron, but I'm not sure).
Or can be the metal of hair bobbles etc
Worth seeing GP though I think.

yep it definitely can be stress related.

Thanks a lot for your messages. I will ring the GP in the morning and see what he says. DD is looking quite pale and is very tired and weepy so I think I'll ask the GP to check her iron level.
