Could this be chicken pox?

My 13 month old DD has been under the weather for a few days and I thought it was just teething, but this morning she has a rash in her nappy area - lots of little blisters.

Do you think this could be chicken pox? Seems strange that the blisters are just in this area, but does this happen sometimes?

She has a slight temperature so i've just given her some calpol and put her down for a nap, but should i take her to the doctors? Would be grateful for anyone's experience or advice.

Sounds more like a bad nappy rash or thrush to me. If CP there would normally be a 'mother spot' first, on the torso most commonly. And it would spread within hours before your very eyes!

If she's teething then the acidic poo could be enough to cause it. Have you got metanium in the house, and can you leave her nappy free as much as poss?

Thanks CSWS, that's the conclusion i've come to after my sleep deprived panic first thing. Have been smothering her in metanium and she has a lot of nappy off time anyway, so we'll carry on with that. Can teething cause very strong wee too? The rash is more towards the front and her poos have actually been a bit better the last couple of days!

Yes, teething can do, mine fairly often used to get bad nappy rash at the same time as teeth were appearing.
