Swollen lymph nodes ALL the time and bad scratching around them...

My 16 mo DS has always suffered with enlarged lymph nodes around the neck and base of skull, they are, of course, more obvious pre and mid illness (and he has had a LOT of bugs recently). Whenever I've queried them with our GP the doctor i've seen has always been totally unconcerned 'its normal, its good he is fighting infection etc etc' and I am trying to be a non-paranoid mummy despite their alarming feel. But recently hardly a day goes by without him really scratching around the area of the lymph nodes, if i didnt know better I would think he has nits!!! And they are swollen pretty much all the time. Has anyone any experience or advice re this...or just tell me to stop being daft and listen to my docs.....

Stop being daft and request a full blood analyses for starters, pronto. Swollen glands are normal to a degree but they could also be symptoms of some quite serious illnesses.
Don't want to alarm you but better make sure the latter is excluded by proper tests.
Hope all turns out well.

I always have swollen lymph nodes somewhere - usually around my head and neck too. They do go down, but never seem to go completely down. If you're concerned I would see a second doctor to put your mind at rest.
