9mnth old horrid cold, not sleeping

has anyone got any great suggestions. Ds2(9mnths) has a horrid cold and just can't sleep much at all. Hence we are all knackered.
Have tried karvol on his sheets, hot water in his room, calpol vaporiser plug. Tried nasosal last night but it ended up irritating his nose and giving him a nose bleed. Rang gp but they said this was fine, just down to his cold.

It ended up with him so distressed last night that I brought his car seat into our room and gave him an apple juice/water drink with a syringe and he finally fell asleep for 3hrs.

But dreading tonight.

Have you tried giving Calpol or Medised? (I know they say not to give Medised yet but I've used it with mine and it works a treat! obviously don't give him too much.. I found medised worked better at helping them sleep!)

Try elevating his mattress too so his head is raised...

calpol not doing much really. I did think of medised. I used that with my now 6yr old dd when she was a baby and even now that she is older when she has a bad night with a cold. But its crazy, it did her no harm at all but now I feel scared of using it for my 3yr old ds1 or 9mnth old ds2.

Do you know more about why the age was put up. How old were your children when you used it? I think it is fab to help them over a bad night.
