Another eardrum question - best way to clean

DD2 has for the second time in 2 months burst her eardrum, and it's gone quite crusty and sticky overnight. Does anyone have any tips on the best way to clean this up? I've started to put some vaseline on the outer ear/ear lobe, so at least it doesn't get so stuck - not sure what else I can do

And am I right in fearing that two bursts (different ears though) in such a short time is a sign of things to come?

I used to use cotton wool in warm water to bathe the gunk off and cotton buds in the out ear bit not actually in the ear canal IYKWIM.

Sympathise with you, my ds is 7 now and we are still under an ENT specialist anout this....9see thread about swimming with perforated drums....)

Thanks - that's what we're trying, but at 14 months she's certainly a moving target

Really hoping it won't happen more often - for one thing - she loves the pool! But have only been able to take her once these last months.

good luck with your DS and the swimming

If it happens again I would push for an ENT refferral if I were you.

Do you think that getting in there early may reduce problems later on?
