DD is nearly 12. she has a combination of unfortunate genetics and a thumb to blame for her sticky out front teeth. Her cousin has exactly the same eeth but doesn't suck a thuumb.

Orthodontist said to give up the thumb and have braces.

Sucking the thumb is the very least of DDs problems. Giving up is not going to happen any time soon. If ever.

Orthodontist then said maybe having a mouth full of metal would make her stop sucking.

This is more likely than her stopping the suck.

So. Do I force her to wear braces and hope that it stops her sucking the thumb? Is there any point? It would be a battle - as everthing with DD is.

Opinions and advice please?
