He's very pale and tired. He was just flopping around this evening (although lucid and no temperature) - we've put him to bed now. Do you think he will be alright upstairs on his own? Can children choke on their own vomit ? He was sick about an hour after breakfast, had some water over the course of the morning, slept for 20 mins after lunch (he didn't eat anything), woke and was promptly sick again. Since then he's had a few sips of water but no more vomiting. WWYD?

I always put a towel over the pillow in case of sickness - at least it may catch a bit and save the pillow too. Just check on him a few times and if he wakes offer more sips of water.

Why don't you call NHS direct and ask them JimJam? Might put your mind at rest. I've made a bed up on the floor in my DS's room before now when similarly worried, so maybe you could do that to get yourself some sleep. If you're right next to him you'll hear any vomiting.

have a made up bed next to my bed and put my ds onto that

see if you can get him to suck on ice pops it gets fluid in and not so heavy on stomach so less likely to have gag reflex

maybe if you can syringe small amounts of calpol at a time making sure it doesn't come back up again hope its just a 24 hr thing poor thing

just try and push fluids when you can small amounts at a time maybe even syringe small amounts

hope he feels better soon

I've put towels everywhere! He's actually just come downstairs because he needed the toilet and although he's obviously still feeling off, his colour is better. If he's sick again I think I will sleep on the floor. Our room is next door though and I am a very light sleeper. Thanks for the replies

i wouldnt give him calpol if he doesnt have a temperature. it wont help with the sickness

bubblagirl · 17/01/2010 09:41

i misread that as having a temp but im sure op would know not to if no temp

JimJamJoolie · 17/01/2010 14:00

No, no calpol and he's fighting fit this morning, no more sickness!
