AIBU to not want to administer ALL the drugs that he has been prescribed??

He is well in himself. School won't let him back in until the spots have healed and crusted over - which is fine i don't have a problem with that - but he just doesn't seem unwell in ANY WAY apart from the spotty rash. I have been applying the cream but more for its cooling properties than anything else really. Also have zorivax prescribed (chemist had to order it) as well as ibuprofen but he is in no pain - just discomfort when it itches.

WWYD?

Id give the meds that ease the itching but I wouldnt give ibuprofen etc - did you have ibuprofen prescribed? How odd.

ds didn't need any drugs apart from Nurofen and Piriton for a few days and then we had to buy that over the counter ! He went back to school the next week and just kept the rash covered.

Yes the ibuprofen was prescribed - i did "cash" that one in as it will get used at some point (3 boys)

Ooh good point about the piriton, i hadn't thought of that.

Thank you

My DS had shingles (without ever having had Chicen Pox - AFAIK!) and was only presecribed zovirax (can't remember its prescription name, but I looked it up and it was the same as zovirax). It shrunk the rash quite quickly and was the only thing we used.

He wasn't at all ill either, and we just had to wait until it had healed/crusted over before he went back to schoool.
