EEG show irregularities - now need Sleep EEG

DS 14 has a long history of febrile convulsions including one last May.
Paediatrician feels that he has GEFS+ and DS had a normal EEG in Nov.

We had a letter today to say that the EEG showed irregularities mainly on the left side of his brain and they would like for him to have a sleep EEG.
He has only had seizures when he has had a temperature and we do have a long family history of febrile convulsions beyond the normal age.

What does a Sleep EEG involve?

my DD had a sleep EEG as part of a full EEG exam at Kings in Sept. they fed her some liquid sedative to make her sleepy and then she lay down asleep for 10 mins whilst they continued the observation. we then had to wake her and she was groggy for about half an hour. hers was no different to the normal EEG, they are just asleep. they told me they like to do it on little ones as there are so many distractions for them when they are awake that a sleep one gives a "truer" picture. don't know if this would apply for older ones.
