Hello all

I unfortunately have suffered coldsores for years and it looks like my ickle man of 10 months may be starting one. Could any one offer advise as to whether there are any medications out there suitable - Zofirax and Compeed are for older children. Or am I best letting the virus run its course? Also am I okay to continue breastfeeding if i have an outbreak?
cheers x

Hello, I too have always got coldsores, though so far, the children haven't. I think some people can harbour the virus but not show effects. Anyway, I certainly always breast fed when I had them. I treat mine with 'Boots cold sore lotion' and surgical spirit. Is Zovirax not OK for children? My Dad (a doctor) also gets them, and he says if you keep zapping them with Zovirax, they eventually go. They are a total pain aren't they?
