finger sucking

Does anyone have a good way of stopping an 8 year old with a finger sucking habit, she has already been told by the dentist that she will have to have braces, and we hav tried all the horrible tasting things to put on it!!

No help as still thumb suck occasionally, she will stop when she wants. If the finger sucking is at certain times then maybe see about a distraction / question if she is anxious.
