Does anyone have any knowledge about immature bowel/gut

ds2 had bowel problems when 2 weeks old. have persisted but got better as he has grown. However things got worse when we tried him on formula at 11 months. Initially we were referred to the hospital with suspected dairy intolerance. I saw the consultant today and he thinks ds2 is still having problems with an immature bowel/gut rather than an intolerance.

I've been told to give him senokot at night as the dr thinks that he isn't pooing fully.

Just wondered if anyone has any knowledge/experience of this condition. Today is the first time I've actually been given a name for what ds2 has had. I've googled immature bowel, but all I've found are research papers that I don't understand.

Ds2 is now 13 months old.
