Daughter cant pee

My DD just diagnosed with UTI - on antibiotics. She has no fever, however, the pain associated with going for a pee is so distressing that she just wont go. Result is very distressing discomfort and possible adverse effect of long-term retention. Any advice on how to help her? Quack says lots of water but this just compounds problem in short term.

get her in a warm bath and encourage her to pee in it like after we had our babies

Dr is quite right, dilute wee will sting less

Could you give her lots of her favourite drink? I know that dd would do anything for lemonade (she doesn't get it very often). Even diluted pop or juice might help.

If you give her lots of lemon barley it neutralises the wee and stops the sting The bath advice is good too

could you give her cranberry juice, i had it mixed with rasberries, this helps with the sting i think

Don't give cranberry with a uti it only works to prevent and can hamper recovery if you use it while you have an infection!

Isn't there something about baking soda or bicarb being good at neutralising the acidity of urine. or did I dream it?

kreecher bicarb is best but hard to get children to drink it so lemon barley is a close second!
