tummy button not healed properly

a while ago I noticed that ds3's tummy button was quite red. on closer inspection, although it looks as though it is fine, if you gently pull the skin either side it kind of opens up and is very red inside and just looks not right!

it was checked at his 6 week check, but as I say, when he is just lying there it looks normal and the GP didn't pull him about at all so didn't notice.

is this common? I'll make an appt to se the doctor again tomorrow, but does anyone know what they'll do if the GP agrees that it isn't healed properly?

he is 6 months old now btw

are you sure it is the original "wound" not healing, not an infection in there - either way you need to seek medical advice

not quite the same but my DD1 had the most unusual cord stump, according to midwife, it should have won a world record for not dropping off, it took 18 days!in that time they put antibiotic powder on it to keep it dry and infection free, maybe your baby needs that?

i'm pretty sure it'#s the original wound. it looks "sealed" and normal usually.
but as I say, if you pull the skin on either side it opens up at the top and it seems quite deep and very red.

it doesn't smell at all.. just red and not quite right!

get it checked out incase of infection. It could be a small grnuloma starting or may just need anti biotic treatment
