sweetcorn up the nose - dangerous?

My dd had sweetcorn for dinner last night and for some completely unfathomable reason decided to put a piece of it up her nose. I think it was more the skin than a full piece of sweetcorn, iykwim. We thought it would probably come out on its own (we could see it up there when she went to bed, it wasn't too far up) but it didn't seem to come out over night. She doesn't seem distressed by it.

Will it come out on its own or should we be in A&E?

you can get these things out easily yourself with a maternal kiss

block up the unaffected nostril, then blow into their mouth - the air will push it out the nose (and it usually ends up on your cheek!!)

this has saved me many trips to A&E

DS1 did this with a pea. I was tempted to leave it, but we took him to A&E and they said that it had to come out or it would cause an infection.

I love the maternal kiss suggestion. If that fails, A&E can sort this easily with their suction device.

Sadly, DS1 had pushed his pea so far up his nose (it was right at the top, near his eyes!) that the suction didn't work, he wouldn't sit still for tweezers, and so he had to be given a quick blast of anesthetic before they whipped it out in 2 seconds.

I have no idea TBH. When DS2 (5) decided to put his favourite pebble collected from Bude beach up his nose whilst in Morrison's carpark I had a panic and sent DH off to find where the nearest A&E was DS2 was very distressed though.

Thankfully he did manage to get it out himself. I kept telling him to blow through his nose, eventually he sussed what I was talking about and out it came.

No idea why children do this.

I hope your DD's sweetcorn comes out on it's own.
