so much for exclusive bfing being exactly what a baby needs to keep his/ her innards working freely Never had this problem with dcs 1 & 2 (also both bf'd) and so am slightly flummoxed and anxious

DC3 has been irregular with his movements since birth - every 2nd day, sometimes every 3rd - but he seems now to be uncomfortable with it. Last time he went was Thursday.

I've tried warm bath with lavender (somehow thought that if he was relaxed, everything else would relax too) and massaging the area between his belly button and willy. What else can I try? a dropper of cool boiled water? fennel tea?

Any suggestions appreciated, can't bear to see him going stiff and screaming and am now losing confidence in my bfing as well ... on that note, would what I eat make a difference? in which case, what do you suggest I eat?

Had the same problem with my exclusive bf ds2. He used to poo every five days - although it didn't seem to bother him as much as your dc3. I never found the answer but you could try bicycling his legs to try and get things moving? Also if he looks like he's trying to go, try pressing his legs against his tummy.

hmm - is the poo hard rather than liquid? If it's just a case of being along time between poos then not necessarily constipated - bf babies don't produce so much waste - DS2 went 19 days between poos once (was fine when he did eventually go but it did necessitate several nappy changes one after the other)

if he is a bit colicky - then try avoiding dairy products yourself for a bit - speak to the HV or GP though if it doesn't improve soon and your LO is in discomfort
