DS downed 2 pints of custard on Christmas day when my back was turned

He went a bit funny a couple of hours later, drowsy and grumpy and then perked up, I gave him some milk at bedtime and he did the BIGGEST poo I have ever seen, a huge, gloopy thing and I just put it down to overconsumption of Christmas food.

But he's now had diarrhoea since, thought it was a mild bug at first, but he's only had it when he usually poos (first thing in the morning) and the times I've given him milk, have stopped all dairy today and he hasn't done a poo since.

He's eating fine and hasn't thrown up, is it possible to get a short term dairy intolerance after eating too much custard/other dairy product?

Was there sugar in the custard? This would explain the drowsiness/grumpiness a couple of hours later, as he would have come down from a massive sugar high.

I don't know about the temporary dairy intolerance, but I guess that it could be possible - many children develop an intolerance to a particular foodgroup whilst they have a cold but are fine at other times.

Maybe leave the dairy products for a couple of days and then reintroduce slowly?

HTH!
