Can't stop running nose!

Right, so my 9mo little girl's nose hasn't stopped running in weeks. I've tried wrapping her up like an eskimo in the house and outside, olbas oil, karvol. Now the snot has turned green. She hates the nasal drops and has started waking up at night. Is this a cold? Or could she be allergic to something I am giving her? Any advice gratefully received.

She's also started spitting out her food quite violently. Most odd! She ate anything I gave her before this!

I think it might be sinusitus - infected sinuses, which would be sorted quite easily with antibiotics. This would cause a runny nose with green 'snot' (sorry!) and could also be why she's spitting her food out - her nose is blocked, so she can't breathe through it and then when she has food in her mouth, she can't breathe through her mouth either.

If it were a food allergy, then it would make her lips and mouth swell, not just give her a runny nose, I would have thought.

I would take her to the GP, if I were you, because she probably needs antibiotics.

Thanks ladies. Husband has taken her to A&E, while I'm at work. She is now coughing too and has a bad rash on her arms. Eeek.

Oh dear - at least she's being seen quickly though!

Let us know how she gets on, won't you!?

So the paediatrician virtually laughed at my husband and sent her home. Today she was finally diagnosed with a chest infection and given antibiotics. This is turning into a nightmare... hope your los are well>
