Not sure what to do. Gp's wont be open until Tuesday.

She got the cold on Xmas eve, was quite poorly Xmas day with it, not too bad yesterday - Still croaky and snuffly. But today she has woken up with an awful wheeze and cough.

She is ok in herself but its a bit worrying.

Could it just be the tail end of a nasty cold? Dp thinks it could be a chest infection, she has also had runny poos.

Thanks.

do you have walk in centres where you live? they are really good. try and google and have a look if your not sure. or nhs direct will tell you where the nearest one is.

Thanks, there is one in my local Boots actually. She seemed to get better this afternoon, if she is back to wheezing a lot in the morning I will pop down.

Im a Childrens nurse, just to be on the safe side I think it would be a good idea to call NHS direct or out of hours gp for some advice and talk through her symptoms with them....

Has she had a really high temperature? (over 38C)

High temp, Cough/cold symptoms and runny poos together could indicate she has swine flu......shes probably just got a bad cough and her other symptoms are coincidental... if she has got swine flu then don't panic....In my experience of nursing children with it, if your daughter ordinarily is fit and well then swine flu isnt too much to worry about.

Im glad shes turned a corner now :-)

That hadnt even crossed my mind harmonie33. Im 35 weeks pg so need to be careful.

Today she is better again, still a bit of a sore throat (you can hear it) and a bit of a runny nose. Her poos are still soft aswell. Although she is running round like a mad toddler again so seems to be back to normal in herself. Her temperature never got too high and is fine now.

The rest of our family now have colds and nothing worse so I hope is isnt swine flu.

Thanks for the advice, I will keep a close on myself now in case I start getting symptoms. Would be typical, I have my swine flu in just under 2 weeks.

Thanks again.

If shes getting better after a few days and the fact her temp never got very high would suggest you have nothing to worry about then :-)
