I swear my ds is jinxed.... everytime its special he gets croupe. He is 3.

examples...
night before his christening
night before a big night out when have not been out in yonks so i dare not drink
first night of our holidays so again i dare not drink all holiday
the night before dh goes away for 3 days and then last night which is as good as xmas eve to me so again i will have a t total xmas...

(no i dont drink alot!!)

We heard him do the tell tale bark cough a few times and whacked onthe humidifer and flew open his bedroom window before he woke with it - he settled staight off and didnt need major intervention but i worried al night and had a bought of nervous trots (tmi sorry). He got up at half 7 and said hurty and touched chest and then did the croup barky cough for about 20 mins - swiftly sat in bathroom whilst dh bathed and he seems to have settled. Am booked in docs at half 10 to get chest checked as still coughing but not croup coughing iyswim.

Its joyeous - thats my own fault for posting on a croup thread yesterday!

Merry Christmas

apparently they 'outgrow' it at 6 - so the last dr told me. my ds1 suffers, just turned 6, so hoping it the last we will see of the hospital trips

hope your ds is ok xx

When was your ds's last bout? my dd has it when she was little twice and her last bout was age 2. i hoped we would have shed it by now. The lat twice we have headed it off ourselves without needing an a and e dash. It makes me nervous going on holidays! We were in the middle of york forest one time on hols - sh wants to try a farm holiday btu im not sure a country environment suits my ds!

from 9months to 5yrs - at least 10 times. 5 that i remember needed hopsital treatment. not had a serious one since about 4.5 xx

i took him to a homeopath and have some fantastic remedies which make all the difference now. as soon as he starts sounding croupy he has them and it doesnt get any worse.

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 24/12/2009 13:35

I had it in february this year much to the startledness of the out of hours doctor. horrendous.

MeMyselfAndIt · 24/12/2009 13:36

My ds has always suffered with croup, he is now 7 and just had another spout of it about 3 months ago, we went to the gp and they told me they grow out of it at the age of 8 years.

nappyzonecantrunfortoffee · 24/12/2009 13:56

Yes gp this am said viral and steam blah blah and he will grow out of it when about 8 - 8!!!! . I am intrigued about the homeopath - might be something i might look into - i think if im right the severity should lessen and to be fair it has the last twice as the airwys get bigger as they do. I wont expect to much though as my ds likes to suprise us! Either way time after time it scares the shoyte out of me.

I just bumping this as i was seeing when ds last had it as yup last night there we were in the garden freezing ourselves silly while ds barked away - poor kid. I really need to kow about these homeopathic remedies as i dare not go out on a night out these days and mil always offers for him to sleep over.
