He's been almost inconsolable since 3am but with periods where after much effort we've got him back to sleep, but the the slightest change of position e.g trying to put him down sets him off again. He's fed and doesn't ant more, nappy fine, temperature fine. Just ran a deep bath to have with him in case tummy pains but he's finally dropped off again in my arms.

Seems too old for colic and bit young for teething. He's had a cough and cold lately but that's on the way out. If he is in pain, how to know and what to do?

Calpol is fine - maybe try Boots or Nelson's teething powders first? What other signs does he have of teething?

I'm not an expert and you should definitely check but I think probably only Baby Bonjela (but check because although it's only two years since my DD was teething the rules change all the time) and/or Calpol. I think they can have that from 3 months?

My DD teethed really early...

he's been drooling nd fist gnawing too. my dd was 6 months when first tooth hatched and teething bit before that but don't think was this early. and i didn't remember this much pain but the i thoughyt hard and remember she had one terrible night with first tooth. will nip to pharmacist for advice. don't think i gave dd calpol till she was on solids.
