What is it, I am getting worried...

Hello, my daughter has had a bad cough for over 3 weeks now and it is getting worse even after the medicine given to us by GP. She also keeps saying "eyes, eyes" and rubs them. I have tried to look for symptoms online but don't really know what this could be. Want to go back to GP so it would be good to be well-informed beforehand in case he sends us back home again saying "wait for it to clear and drink plenty of fluids"...Please advise.

Hi, do you think it could be the coughing is giving head headache it the eye area which she is saying is her eyes? I know when DS1 has a cough he frequently gets a head ache with it.

my first advice would be not to look online to try and find out what symptoms might indicate!

Could be that she has sore eys related to a virus but best thing is go to your gp and if you want to make sure you don't just get sent home again, simply make sure that you are satisfied that he has considered all possibilities before you leave the office. TBH I doubt he will just send you away if your dd has had the cough for that long and if it's not getting better despite the previous prescrition so you are likely to have a proper check

You can buy Piriton over the counter - maybe give her a dose for a couple of days and see what it is?

The other thing it could be is that the glands next to her eyes are sore - that often happens when children get colds and should go with the cold.

wonder if she has a bit of sinusitis....it can be very painful

I've had a cough and sinusitus for the last 3 weeks, my eyes have been hurting from the sinus pressure. You could be on to something alypaly.

How old is she? You can get childrens sudafed over the counter but its probably best to speak to your gp again. Hope shes feeling better soon.
