My DD is 1 and since yesterday has got this awful cough that sounds like she is trying to cough something up.
I took her to docs last night and they say her lungs and chest is clear.

I am wondering if there is anythig i can do to ease it for her she almost chokes and starts to whimper when she keeps coughing

Probably she is trying to cough up the mucus...which is actually a GOOD thing! Give her loads of sips of water, juice, etc..Liquids help.

As the docs say her lungs are clear - I suppose they mean there's just some loose phlegm waiting to come out...and it will. Sounds worse than it is!

A steamy bathroom might loosen it. If she swallows a lot of the coughed up mucus she might end up vomiting but that too is normal!
