cold sores/herpes in 2 yo

my 2 yo has cracked lips and a whitish patch that looks like it might be a cold sore. I just had one and though i am super careful I probabl;y infected her at some point/before I notice I have one. Not on;y that, but have a 4 week old baby and scared she might catch it. What to do??

DD had the same a few winters back, I took her to the pharmacist and they said it was where her chapped lips had become slightly infected, rather than a coldsore. She hasn't had another so it was quite probably true.
