I am really feeling low and worried. My DD has experienced UTI's over this year and is awaiting a consultants appointment as they think she may have scars on her kidneys. She wees all the time and doesn't have control of her bladder like most of my friends kids. This has been a point of concern for the the last 18 months. She is always, always tired and listless. She is pale and quite snappy and it's really making me worried. People keep saying "Oh it's just a phase", "Not all kids are quick to toilet train", "She'll be whacked from a day at nursery", but honestly I think it's something else. I don't know what, but she's just not right. I've taken her for a blood test today to see if she has a low iron count.
Anyway, over the last few weeks she has eaten very little which obviously makes her even more tired and weak. She's complaining of pains in her tummy but the doctor says he can't find anything obvious. I'm torn wondering if it's physical or mental. Is it possible for a child of nearly 4 to manipulate the truth to such a degree?
She started nursery in Sept and appears to love it, but we are vegetarian and the cook keeps giving her Quorn despite the fact that I have said we don't like it. Today the cook said that she can't give her anything else because they have to get the protein from somewhere and they have to follow a regulation diet across the city in all schools, so they can't do anything different for her. I think in January I'll just have to give her packed lunches, but I have a baby with dislocated hips and it's quite a push just getting out of the house in the mornings.
Ahhhhh....I'm so worried as I just don't know what's right and wrong. I'm sure the situation is unusual but don't know as people keep trying to normalise it. She's become really picky and won't even eat the things she normally likes. She sleeps for 12 hours a night but still wakes tired and lifeless.
Should I persisit and make her eat something or just ignore it. She even turned her nose up at a gingerbread man today which she normally loves.
I haven't really got anyone to ask and I would be so grateful if someone could give me their opinion on this.
Thanks
