What's she like now?

If you are worried then you need to take her back to A&E.

SuperflousBuns · 06/12/2009 22:01

She's not nearly as bad as she was this afternoon,if she gets as bad as that I'm straight back in that scary ambulance.
Managed to get her to drink 3 oz whilst in steamy bathroom

Is there foamy spit coming out of her mouth or is it just a bark?

SuperflousBuns · 06/12/2009 22:10

lots of drool but not foamy

Drool's normal for a baby. The lack of foam's good, they can get something called bronchialitis which is like croup, it juts means they can't feed properly. How is she now? Sometimes the cold air can help more then steam, she shouldn't be bad if she's had steriods though as these open up the airway. She shouldn't be wheezy or coughing.

SuperflousBuns · 06/12/2009 22:20

she's happy enough, still a bit wheezy but no barking cough since left hosp 3 hrs ago.
has a sore throat when doing her googoo gaagaa's

Is she wheezy when she breathes out or in? She shouldn't be wheezy either to be honest.

SuperflousBuns · 06/12/2009 22:23

when she breathes in

FluffyForLifeNotJustForXmas · 06/12/2009 22:26

Is her tummy/top of her neck being sucked in aswell when she's breathing? Right at the top just below the sternum (the bit right in the middle of the ribs, follow the line around to where it meets. Is she a normal colour?

SuperflousBuns · 06/12/2009 22:27

no sucking in and is good colour

Oh dear, hope she gets better quickly.

Mine had croup a little while back, was horrible to listen to. I found cold air helped most, a drive around with back windows open or standing outside for a bit. But mine were 1 and 3 so prob much easier and less scary

FluffyForLifeNotJustForXmas · 06/12/2009 22:32

It sounds like an upper respiratory wheeze, she's probably made her throat sore by coughing which is why she sounds croaky. If she gets any worse or you are worried then please do take her back. Try wrapping her up and standing on the doorstep for a few minutes as the cold air can sometimes help. If you are worried in any way though do take her back, it's difficult for people on here to reply as we are not with you and can't see her. There's alot of people who have no knowledge aswell, I'm not a doctor but trained as a paediatric nurse.

I hope she's OK and recovers soon.

Hope you had an OK night. Have you tried propping up the cot? We always keep DS's window open as fresh air seems to help. We bought a humidifer too but I'm not sure whether it helps or not - but I always feel so helpless with croup, it helps me to know that I'm doing everything I can.

Have you got more steroids? DS usually has them for 3 days.

Good luck. I hate croup xxx

SuperflousBuns · 07/12/2009 12:28

She managed some sleep(me?nope!!) and seems a lot brighter today but still very wheezy and no 'voice' IYKWIM, doctor never said about more steroids but health visitor coming today anyway so will ask her then
