My son has been off with a bad throat, funny sick thing for six days now. Went back to school today. Tonight tho he complained of being cold and is now sleeping, shallow-breathing and moaning in his sleep. No temperature tho...anyone know what I should do? Shd I call NHS Direct?

Take him tback o see a Doctor,

I've just been through similar with my DD, turned out not to be a virusat all, but a chest infection, & needed anti b's .........she only started to pick up once she got them........as shes now asthmatic, they thankfully take it seriously & are very thorough, & she has inhalers which are always useful in such circumstance

Don't want to panic you, but DO TRUST YOUR INSTINCT.......in the past, I had the same thing, & couldn't get any of the 5 GPs I saw to take it seriously, finally had to run up to childrens A&E, despite been told 2 hours earlier she was fine, nothing but a virus..........turned out she had Pneumonia

Look out for "drag" between his ribs, at collar bone, & under ribs....if thats happening on breathing in...get him to A&E.......... getting him into cold air will help open his lungs too

good luck

Sorry, that sounded a bit blunt, I was rushing out for School Run

DD also didn't have a tempreture, but still had a bacterial chest infection, her lungs were pretty bad according to both GPs we saw .......so its not always an indication, if thats anything to go by...hope he's a bit better by now
