How quickly does it work?

my 7 week old has been prescribed this and is still doing something really odd.

she started on it yesterday am and has had it in every feed.

I really don't think that she ha reflux, my other dd had this and it was horrendus.

she is a great baby feeds well, nothing like her sister.

The thing she does is really awfull, she flings her arms out to the side and breaths really fast and after between 5 and 20 seconds she starts crying. I have never heard a baby cry like this before. her arms are stiff wkile doing this, my poor ds is petrified when she has one.

God sorry for the ramble, Getting really worried now, has been happening for over two weeks now and she has done ikt several times a day every day since monday

Poor you.

My dd had reflux but the infant gaviscon never made an impact - same with ds.

But she did do something slightly similar to your dd, but hers was almost like a fit where she did the startle reflex and shook for about 60 seconds and then cried. We never got to the bottom of it, despite lots of tests, and she's absolutely fine now. Its really tricky to do, but if you can - video it, on your phone or your camcorder. It sounds strange but it was the only thing that worked when we were trying to explain to drs what she did.

I would certainly go back to your gp and explain - if you think it isn't reflux (and given that you've had a child with reflux already, you would know the signs), stand by your guns.

HTH. Sorry

I'm in the process of charging up the camera right now.

my older dd had silent reflux and it was the worst time of my life, she cried constantly , did nit gain weight and was in a lot of pain all the time. the only thing that stopped hers was weaning at 5 months.

baby dd is nothing like this, she is the easiest out of four lol, I think she is haveig seizures, it's so hard to get the bloody docs to listen to you though

Have you tried wrapping her up gently whilst feeding....it could be the startle reflex like mistletoe said. was she slightly prem
