Shingles in a child - who can tell me what?

ATM it is only suspected

But DD had nerve tpye pain/neuralgia in her shoulder blade/back/neck and down her arm - she has recently been on steroids and apparently this can be significant

I didn't think children could get shingles - but what do I need to know in case?

We have a GP appointment late afternoon but I am to bring it forward if her temp changes or here eyes start to hurt I am very

She is in a lot of pain on about a 3 hr cycle, the calpol wears off & she can't have any more - she is in tears, absolutely rigid then when the calpol comes she gradually calms down and is OK

Unfortunately she can't have ibuprofen

She slept all through last night - we checked her several times

And the dr thinks she should be in school today?

Poor little thing.

"It feels like I have been punched all down my spine with bruises either side and when I move m shoulder & neck feels like a sharp knife pain & the skin tingles"she said today

Poor wee thing.

Are you going to take her to see another doc?

Well it is better than it was yesterday - if it is shingles she will get a rash, & if it is a virus it will go. So I am hoping a day r 2 will decide things

She is taking a fair amount of calpol which I am monitoring tbh & if she didn't sleep we would be straight to see someone

Hope she is better soon.
At least she can sleep and get some rest.

Is it possible she has already had shingles nd this is a flare up of the virus - I believe you don't always get the rash on subsequent occasions. ds had it this year and had the classic rash in a band around his rib cage on one side. Had complained of back ache on and off for several days beforehand (he has a high pain threshold so we knew it really hurt ) but less once the rash appeared.

I thin it's a virus - two other people have got similar symptoms (one has pins & needles, the other back pain)

So fingers crossed it will go soon
