Hacking Cough in 4yr Old?!

DD2 is currently on the sofa, coughing like a 60 a day smoker, what can I do?!

I hve given cough medicine, she is drinking loads of water, but nothing is helping.

I had kept her off nursery today as she was coughing a bit and generally looked run down, but no temp or anything else cold/flu related.

She went to bed as normal and all was quiet until she went for a wee at 11.30pm. I am now downstairs with her as she is disturbing DD1 (they share a room) and despite trying to get her in bed with me and DH, she was keeping us both awake, so Ive let DH sleep.

There is NOTHING on TV, she cant sleep because of the cough, and I am absolutely knackered!

Anything else I can actually do to help her or am I just going to have to ride this out? I have NEVER EVER had a night with a sick child on the sofa that hasnt been a sickness bug and easy to deal with. I feel all out of my depth!
