Damaged baby teeth in 5 year old

My son had an accident and has lost one of his top teeth and severely damaged three more. I'm worried sick about him as he's too scared to eat, drink and talk. Also I'm very concerned what will happen with these 3 loose teeth. I need to talk to anyone who has been through something similar.. thanks

no need to panic! have you been to the dentist?

normally they won't do any restoative for a week after the accident unless nerve issues etc, but after that they can patch things up a bit.

usually they just let the baby teeth come out naturally (sometimes they grey or discolour, and some dentists will take them out, but most don't bother). the only concern really, is whether the impact has damaged the forming adult teeth, but there's no quick answer to that i don't think. plenty of time to get sorted anyway. [smile}

dd2 went over the handlebars of her bike two mkonths after she got her adult teeth and smashed the front two. it was easter saturday and she spent all easter sunday morning in the emergency dentist - no chocolate for her lol. she refused to eat, drink or smile for nigh on a week, and held her hand in front of her mouth the whole time (and had a dance show on the friday, complete with scabby chin!) but gradually became less concerned once the soreness and self-consciousness wore off.

poor ds. hope he feels better soon. i'd just be offerning soft options for a few days.

He has shown some improvement in wanting to eat and drink over the last couple of days so feeling a bit more positive. Still no talking though but hasn't been a week yet.Visiting the dentist again tomorrow so will see what comes from that too.
