my ds has had diahorrea for a wwek and a half, the doc told me to wait till next week then we'l assess it again, but its getting worse. its not bothering him, but it cant be good for him, and i'm starting to wonder weather its a good idea to wait another couple of days. my doc has got thing really really wrong with ds in the past few weeks, for example i took him in as i thought he may be getting unwell, he didnt look at him an pretty much called me an over protective mother..fast forward 12 hours and we're being pick up by an ambulance and taken to the childrens hospital as my son couldnt breath properly. what should i do??

Hi; does he have any other symptoms eg. nausea, bloating, tiredness? can you think if anything that he ate may have triggered it? Has it happened before? how old is your son? sorry to bombard you with questions but I am coeliac (gluten intolerant) and i suffered from ongoing diahorrea for ages and this immediately sprang to mind when i read your thread. I may be barking up the wrong tree completely, and it may be a stomach bug, but try to omit gluten from his diet for a couple of days and see if it makes a difference; if it does then I would suggest talking to your GP about possible coeliac testing. HTH x

sounds like you need to pester your GP, or ask to see another if you dont have much faith in yours. Be persistent, a 12 month old cant tell you how he feels and you know as his mother when things aren't right.

Get tests done to check he hasnt picked up any further bugs especially from hospital. Get a sample bottle. Be quick about it to nip it now. 7 days doesnt sound right to me. But it may be just post viral but I understand your concern.

My DS had diarrhoea for two and a half weeks (and he is 3 months old!) which was very worrying. My docs were great and said that people can become temporarily lactose intolerant after a bout of diarrhoea, so they thought that's what his problem was when they saw me in week 2.

Hopefully that's what your LO has as well, but I agree about getting a test done and a second opinion... and possibly moving doctors to somewhere you trust.
