Hi,

Is it ok to give my 2.2 year old half a dose of neurofen (2.5) then see how he gets on and then if need be give him the other half 2 hours later. Therefore not exceeding the maximun dose of 5ml. He then will not have another dose until the next morning if he still needs it?

I just don't like giving full doses but he's really porrly and temp is slightly up so really need to give him the 2nd half dose before bed.

Thanks
Lel

If he is ill, dose him properly. You will not cause him any harm with a normal dose, and you will relieve him of a lot of misery.

I think it's horrid to deny small children medicine for the sake of 'natural' parenting.

I agree, give him the proper dose. If he's very poorly you can give Calpol as well. I'd usually do Nurofen then after 2 hours Calpol.

Why don't you want to give him the full dose?

I agree with the others, just give the full dose so he can have the full benefit of it.

Half a dose may not be enough to relieve the pain and temp and would be counter productive, imo.
