... basically, do i take him to see an out of hours doctor or not. I'm fairly sure it's just a cold. Fontanelle's a bit depressed and i'm offering him the breast non stop so he can drink but he's struggling with his bunged up nose. He obviously feels crap (as you do with a cold) but can a doctor do anything to help him? I kind of presume not?

saline drops for his nose

I would take him to the doc if you're worriedabout his breathing i.e. if he is breathing very fast or sucking his chest in between his ribs to check that isn't anything serious. Otherwise, the doc will probably just prescribe some saline drops for his nose. poor you though and poor him

I'm doing saline drops already. And I've got one of those aspiraters to suck out the snot (sorry!). It's really the cough that sounds the worst. Poor little mite.

how's his temperature? that's the trigger factor for me...
how is he in himself?
what's your gut instinct?
and finally..does your out of hours doc offer a phone service - ie, do you call them anyway for advice/appointment etc...cos if you do, then they can guide you a bit
