Any pediatricians around? DD is having tummy issues

My DD (3.5) has had quite loose poos for about a month. I have not taken her to the GP yet, but I think I will shortly. However, I am concerned that the GP will just dismiss it as a non-issue.

There has been no change to her diet, and she seems well otherwise, but her poos are runny, and she is going once or twice a day - but then sometimes no poo for a day. There seems to be no obvious pattern to it.

Any ideas about what it could be?

Hi, sorry not a doctor but paed nurse, sounds like could be constipation. Sometimes hard poo can get stuck and causes poo to become loose to get around hard stuff, known as overflow. Your GP will be able to tell from feeling her tummy, they might also want to take some samples to check for any ongoing bugs that could be causing it. Hope she's feeling better soon

Thank you scarymoo. But it's definitely not constipation. I know what you mean, but in DD's case it's usually "formed" bits of poo, just very soft (sorry, too much information !) followed by runnier. But you are right, I probably need to get a sample.
