DD has a cough which reminds me of croup. It is only mild for croup, but she has a mild raspy wheeze with it (not the bark, not that bad, but squeaky). It is persistant, and very regular (every min or so atm) she is not struggling to breathe or anything, but it is clearly bothering her. (she has had croup twice. Once hospitalised, so we know the signs to look for in relation to getting medical advice etc, and once quite mildly which passed after a couple of days).
I was thinking of giving her some medicine to ease it. But can't remember whether ibruprofen is ok or not. I was thinking this might be better than paracetamol as it reduces swelling so if her larynx/windpipe is swollen it might help reduce it.
But i have also heard that croup is related to asthma as a respiratory illness and that ibruprofen should not be used with asthma, so does that mean I should not use it for this?
