staying home with a cold?

Hi, what is the general procedure for keeping a child home with a cold? no fever, no vomiting, just cough and sniffles. I've kept DD home (she is 5) but now she is demanding activities, asking to make and do things. I told her if she is well enough to make things she is well enough to go to school.

People go to work with minor colds, but do you send a 5 year old to school with a sniffle? We had a letter from the school telling us to send vomiting children in, but I don't know if I should be stopping the spread of a little cod the same way.

Just wondering what other people do.

thanks

I would send my dd in with a cold unless she was feeling particularly bad with it or she was running a temperature.
