Does this sound like oral thrush?

DD2 (3 weeks old) has white patches on her tongue that have been there all day and is dribbling/blowing bubbles all of a sudden. She is sleeping a lot and when she wakes up it is only to cry. She has been fussing at the breast a lot (not unusual in a 3 weeker, I know). In general she has seemed misreable for a few days and when she cries is inconsolable. She seems quite windy and produces some very stinky poos and farts.

I don't know if I have symptoms of thrush - her latch isn't great so sore nipples are the order of the day and my nipples may be itching, but that may just be since I have been thinking about thrush.

We'll be going to see the GP tomorrow, but the NHS website says that the white patches should be anywhere but her tongue so the symptoms don't quite match up. But I still think something is up. Is this likely to be thrush?

My DS had oral thrush from when he was born. He had white all over his tongue and was generally quite restless and used to moan a lot in his sleep and be sticking his tongue out. It took weeks to go (with treatment) but it did in the end. If she has got it then you will need to treat your nipples too I think (my DS was bottle fed).

sounds like it....go to GP for a course of nystatin.it may sort her out

Thanks - we've got the nystatin (and something for my nipples).
Now we just have to get it down her without her spitting it all out...
