Hi, I would appreciate some opinions on my daughter age 4 crying with lower tummy pain and holding her left side?
When she stands up she says it hurts too much and her "legs are pushing up into her tummy"
Whilst sitting on our lap or laying on the sofa she is reasonably comfy but when she stands or we press her tummy she is crying.

I cannot 100% be sure she is not acting a bit. I have tried explaining that if we get really concerned or she becomes more poorly we will need to call the g.p and she says she thinks it is going now...shortly after she is holding it again and saying "owww"
hmmmm.........I really am stumped and obviously want to do the right thing.

Appendix can start on the left or in the center then move to the right. I'd get her checked.

DS (5) just had a bug which gave him strong, sharp pains which hurt enough to make him cry out - he'd get the pains and then sometimes have wind or need a poo shortly afterwards, but sometimes just had the pains. He said they were around the middle of his tummy area and also that they hurt when I pressed his tummy. Hope that's some help and DD is better soon.

My DD suffers from swollen glands in her stomach and always starts around the middle. At first we took her a couple of times as I thought appendicitis but it is her glands and happens when she is run down or before a bout of tonsillitis. I still ALWAYS ask lots of questions though, just in case it is appendicitis.
I would take her to the docs just to rule stuff out.

thanks everyone
At the moment she is up and about but looks as white as a ghost. I haven't mentioned the tummy as she seems to be otherwise fine and is not in any pain at all right now......strange!
Today we have been out quite a lot. She told us she needed a poo about 10 times throughout the day but could not go and I wasn't concerned as I know she did a healthy one only yesterday.
Will keep an eye and hope it does not return.
