5 month old with a cough

Can anyone recommend what medicine I can give my 5 month old daughter for a bad cough. She's been bunged up in the night for a couple of weeks now, but not so bad in the daytime, but yesterday she was quite sick and now seems to have been hit with a cough. She's seems quite smiley apart from all this, though she does seem to be off her pureed food over the last day or so, when she had been enjoying it for the last two weeks. Thank you.

Hi there, not much fun is it? I don't think you can get cough medicine at 5 months (perhaps with a perscription). I think the pharmacist would recommend paracetamol (eg calpol), make sure it's one for the right age range. You get stuff eg drops, rub, oil, to help with congestion, if that's a problem. hope it eases off soon!
I'd give lots of milk, too.
